PGA Tour returning to Peek’n Peak Resort this summer
The PGA TOUR returns to Western New York with the Web.com Tour’s LECOM Health Challenge at Peek’n Peak Resort’s majestic Upper Course on July 4-10, 2016. The LECOM Health Challenge, presented by LECOM Health, marks the first PGA TOUR event at Peek’n Peak since 2007.
“We could not be more excited to welcome the PGA back to the Upper Course,” said Nick Scott, Sr., Owner of Scott Enterprises and Peek’n Peak Resort. “The biggest stars of the PGA get their start on the Web.com Tour, and the LECOM Health Challenge will be a week of excitement and fun for everyone involved.”
A qualifying event for the PGA TOUR, this tournament brings a weeklong schedule of events to Peek’n Peak, including a Pro-Am and four rounds of championship play with a purse of $600,000.
Known for its unique terrain and natural features including rolling hills, deep sand bunkers, panoramic views and mature woods, the 72-par Upper Course will be a challenge for even the pros.
The Web.com Tour held tournaments at Peek’n Peak Resort from 2002-2007. Current PGA TOUR champions who competed at Peek’n Peak during their Web.com Tour careers include Open Champion Zach Johnson, FedExCup champions Brandt Snedeker and Bill Haas, two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson, and PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner.
The tournament this year will bring tens of thousands of people to the region, and sponsors, volunteers and Pro-Am teams can also participate in the LECOM Health Challenge.
“Hundreds of volunteers are needed to make this event possible,” stated Michelle Turner, Tournament Director and Host Organization for the LECOM Health Challenge. “Scorekeepers, marshals and the transportation of players are among the many volunteer jobs available. This is a great opportunity to experience a PGA event from ‘inside the ropes’.”
Online registration is now available for volunteers at lecomhealthchallenge.com/volunteer. For $45, volunteers age 18 and over will receive an official uniform, tournament tickets, parking and a meal package. Volunteers between ages 13 and 17 can register for free.
Pro-Am packages are still available, and include four playing positions, eight invitations to the Pro-Am Pairings Party, exclusive Pro Am gift packages, and integrated branding and marketing opportunities. For more information, visit lecomhealthchallenge.com.
Sponsorships for the LECOM Health Challenge are also still available. From $500 flag sponsors to major naming rights sponsorships, diverse entitlement packages include Walk with a Pro opportunities, VIP passes, Pro Am positions, strategic branding and marketing opportunities and private skyboxes.
The LECOM Health Challenge is a charity event hosted by the Chautauqua Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC). Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the LECOM Student Scholarship Fund, as well as other charities in Chautauqua County and the nearby greater Erie, Pennsylvania area.
